The Devens Eco-Efficiency collaborated with representatives of MassToss, DEP, and nine area towns to establish the Devens Regional Household Hazardous Products Collection Center, a permanent facility that makes it easier and less costly to properly dispose toxic materials. “Devens HHW” is located at 9 Cook Street, behind the public works building. The facility is open twenty times per year, 9:00a-noon on the first Wednesday and following Saturday of each month, March through December.

This service is open to businesses that do not create toxic waste in their daily operations or do not exceed DEP’s threshold for a Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG) and generate less than 220 pounds (approximately 27 gallons) of ignitable, corrosive, reactive, toxic, or hazardous waste or waste oil per month and no acutely hazardous waste. Firms are required to pre-register via email or phone; disposal fees will be based on the materials being managed.

This service can be used by residents and establishments of member towns: Ayer, Bolton, Devens, Groton, Harvard, Lancaster, Littleton, Lunenburg, and Townsend. For more information and a list of accepted items, visit www.devenshhw.com. Appointments can be made by calling 978-501-3943.
